1. What We Collect
DAWN collects only the data necessary to provide safety services to you. This includes:
- Account data: name, phone number, email address, date of birth, and gender
- Profile photo (optional, stored securely in Firebase Storage)
- GPS location — active only during an open service request or SOS alert
- Device information: Firebase Cloud Messaging token (for push notifications)
- Emergency contacts: names, phone numbers, and relationships you add
- Request history: service type, pickup/destination addresses, assignment details
2. Why We Collect It
Every piece of data we collect has a direct safety function:
- Location is used to dispatch knights and to broadcast SOS alerts to your contacts
- Phone number is used for Firebase OTP authentication — we never store raw passwords
- Emergency contacts are stored solely to notify them during SOS events
- FCM tokens are used only to send service-related push notifications
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your data to third parties — ever
- We do not track your location when no request or SOS is active
- We do not use your data for advertising or profiling
- We do not share your name, phone, or contacts with knights beyond what is required for the active request
4. Data Sharing
Data is shared only in the following limited circumstances:
- Assigned knights receive your first name and pickup location only for active requests
- Emergency contacts receive your live location during SOS events you trigger
- Firebase (Google) provides authentication, storage, and messaging infrastructure
- Law enforcement — only when required by valid legal process under Indian law
5. Data Retention
Active account data is retained while your account exists. Closed accounts are anonymised within 90 days. Request logs are retained for 2 years for dispute and legal purposes. SOS events are retained indefinitely for your personal safety record.
6. Your Rights
- Request a copy of all data we hold about you: privacy@dawn.in
- Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Correct any inaccurate data via the Profile screen in the app
- Withdraw consent for non-essential communications at any time
7. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Firebase authentication tokens are stored securely using Flutter Secure Storage. Database access is restricted to authorised backend services only. We conduct regular security reviews of our infrastructure.
